>> No Curves

„We call ourselves No Curves
because we believe in angles and
straight lines.
We dont use curves.“

>>> Please tell us about yourself ...

No Curves is a bunch of hands trying to work together.
Profession? Career?
Can only say that we love futurism, euclidean geometry, pixel,
old graphics from videogames & toys of the 80s, time travel and Roy Batty.
We grew up looking proudly at the beauty of mother nature
and her perfect, immoveable stones.

>>> What’s your style ...

Basically we realize our artworks with adhesive tapes.
We work on every type of surface where the tape could stick.
We call ourselves No Curves because we believe in angles
and straight lines. We dont use curves.
The adhesive tape is the perfect tool for us.
Cut and paste. Geometric drawing action!
We take distance from art in general, we love more cold architecture
and minimal design. All is very precise, stylized. Sometimes alien ...
 inhuman ... like us.

>>> Tapeart is ...

Clean. Simple. Linear.

>>> Do you feel streetart is being exploited as new pop culture ?
Partly we think this is the only way for many artists to survive.
Now that many companies and brands have (re)discovered street art,
or sub-cultures in general, the new "pop-culture" has provided a channel
for it to reach business (real life).
For us that's fair enough. Our stuff get more visibility through business,
and it's an easier platform for us to approach the world and vice versa.
Art is no more just the decoration, framed and hung on wall, but it is
emerging everywhere in our lives.
The point is: Could we call that art anymore?

>>> Your favourite project ...
Oh, we loved Protopixel, an event dedicated to the pixel graphics
and classic games of the 80s-90s, realized with the collaboration
of VJ Visualoop.
It was a live performance, mixing tapes-made- characters with projected
visuals ... The colors, the blending effects of the pixelized images with
adhesive tapes, the soundtrack ... everything seems so perfect and clean,
it was totally stimulating ! Collaborations between artists is one of the best
way to enrich our works.

>>> So everybody gets your message ?
Our work does not require any certain level of ability to understand.
It should be understood in the way you interpreted.
We shall give freedom for others.
We are glad that they'd have their own imaginations.

>>> Which aspect of your work is overlooked ?
Pratically how hard is working with tapes. For many people, tapes
seem to be fairly easy to create lines and forms. However, the truth is
we exhaust our energy through the process. Especially when you are
working on a big image. The finishing has to be precise for the required
effect, time is essential to refine every single line. But we love how people
think this is easy, just let them take it this way. For us, it's funny !

>>> What  are you up to next ?
Few festivals around Italy, some cool commercial works for Christmas
and we are planning a trip to the polar Antarctic Circle to discorver some
geometric secrets hidden in the eternal ice.

>>> Last remarks ?
"Keep it simple". Its a good way for everything.
Thanks to urbantactcis for the interview !

>>> Well, thank you No Curves.
